I’m catching up on some work on Saturday.
The text thing dings on my phone.
My youngest daughter is sending me a picture of her, sitting on her husband’s shoulders, in the middle of a crowd of 8000 people at a Bernie Sanders rally in Austin.
“We’re following the election and went to see Senator Sanders speak today! :)”
“Good for you!” I say, “You should know what’s going on and who says what. But in the end, vote for Cruz :)”
She returns my forehand well:
“If they campaign in Austin I’m trying to hear all the candidates speak. Going to see Secretary Clinton when she comes through.”
We banter back and forth a bit and she closes with one for the Highlight Reel:
“Thanks for teaching me to form my own opinions. I think that’s a great quality in a parent. Love you guys.”
Made my day.
The best part of parenting was the teaching.
How to tie a shoe, how to change a tire, how to read a book or article and form an opinion from or about it. Passing the torch from one generation to the next.
I’m still passing the torch, but nowadays it’s passing along information on how to build a killer home business. Something that can help you live the laptop lifestyle.
Or catch up from getting pounded by the market back in ’08.
It’s different, but I still get a rush from it.
