Nobody Wants to Do Network Marketing
I love network marketing.
It is a fantastic business model that provides a better way to earn a living than any other occupation I know.
Even so, there isn’t a single person in the Network Marketing industry that wanted to be a network marketing distributor before they got started.
Features and Benefits
You see, the network marketing business is just like the products or services we sell.
Like anything else people invest in, they don’t want the thing, they want what the thing will do for them.
No person that ever bought a drill actually wanted a drill. They wanted holes or they wanted screws driven to hold things together. The drill was how they accomplished those ends.
No one ever wanted a pretty piece of paper that said “Microsoft” on it, they wanted the share of the company profits the stock certificate represented.
No one ever wanted a vitamin capsule, they wanted better health.
No one ever wanted a network marketing distributorship, they wanted the lifestyle a networking business can provide.
Lifestyle
Most people are slaves to their incomes, slaves to their jobs.
They wake up when they have to in order to be at work at the time their job demands.
They take vacations when the boss says they can, assuming it’s convenient for the
business and not during any “blacked out” periods.
They live close to work or have a nightmare of a commute.
They spend most of their waking hours building the owner’s business and dreams, not their own.
Time Freedom
Or they have their own business but are slaves to it. They can’t take time off because the income stops when they do.
Their employees call in sick, so they have to fill in the gaps.
It’s a slow month or quarter and they still work insane hours but don’t take any income out of the business because overhead and employees have to get paid first.
Or they work insane hours because of the demands of their profession and can’t afford to take family time.
They miss the plays, the recitals, the ball games and family time because they spend every waking hour working, preparing to work or worrying about work.
The reasons people join a network marketing company is because they want the freedom, the lifestyle and the residual income that network marketing can provide.
They don’t want to do network marketing, they want to have the benefits that doing network marketing provides.
The next time you’re doing a one-on-one, or having a prospecting conversation or writing an ad, keep that in mind.
