I've been far from perfect in my life. Not even within shouting distance.

I spent years being a pleaser, worrying too much about what others thought, and it held me back in ways I didn't even realize.

Missed investment opportunities? Check.

Settling for jobs beneath my potential? Yep.

And though I was well-liked by my colleagues, I was often at odds with my superiors, missing out on chances to move up.

I was a mediocre man living a mediocre life. Worse yet, I inflicted this life on my wife and kids.

But finally, against all common sense, instead of a mid-life crisis, I was able to completely change my life in my 60's.

It's never too late, right?

In this article, I want to share:

How I finally overcame my need to please and my fear of judgment and took control of my life.
The pivotal moments that sparked my late-blooming transformation.
Insights and lessons you can apply, no matter where you are in life.

If I can get myself back on track after so many years in the wilderness, you can too. Hopefully, this will help.

Discovering the Missing Comma

You know that moment when something so small yet so crucial finally catches your eye, and everything changes? That's what happened to me, but it wasn't just a literal comma; it was a figurative one in my life's ledger, too.

Staring down the barrel of retirement, I realized I was nowhere near ready. The savings account I'd neglected was a stark reminder of decades spent avoiding risks and living in a comfort zone that wasn't really all that comfortable.

The prospect was terrifying – visions of a future where my “golden years” were spent not on a sunny beach, but in a refrigerator box, with dog food as my gourmet meal.

Yeah, it sounds dramatic, but these were the real, raw fears that haunted my sleepless nights.

How had I let things get this bad? The Missing Comma was more than just a wake-up call; it was a siren blaring in my head, demanding change.

I had to do something to change my life and I had to do it now.

Gut-Brain Axis - The Catalyst to Change My Life

It's funny how life works sometimes. The change I needed didn't start in my head; it began in my gut. I'd come across this idea that our gut is our "second brain," and its balance, or lack thereof, can significantly impact our mood, anger, tension, and fatigue. It dawned on me that I was experiencing all these symptoms.

So, I dove into the world of diet and supplements, exploring ways to balance my gut. Refined sugars were out, and high-fiber foods were in. I experimented with various supplements aimed at enhancing the beneficial bacteria in the gut. After some trial and error, I found one that worked wonders for me.

The change was palpable. My mood started to lift, and the persistent fog of depression and anxiety, which had been my unwanted companions for as long as I could remember, began to recede. I felt like Dorothy stepping out into the vibrant world of Oz – everything seemed brighter, more colorful, and full of possibility. This newfound clarity and lightness of being were the catalysts I needed to start making other significant changes in my life.

Embracing The Wisdom of the Ages

While I was working on my health, I went back to the self-help books I'd amassed over the years. I had a pretty good library and despite being well-versed in their content, I realized I'd never put their wisdom into practice. So, with a renewed sense of clarity from my dietary changes and supplements, I embarked on a path of actually applying what they taught..

The transformation was remarkable. The principles of goal setting and positive affirmations, which I used to look at with a side-eye, began to resonate with me. This wasn't just theoretical stuff anymore; it was becoming a lived experience. A genuine change-my-life experience. For the first time, I wasn't just knowing the words in the books—I was living them.

As I kept going, I noticed tangible changes. My mindset shifted from cynicism to possibility. I found myself setting more ambitious goals, fueled by the belief that they were attainable. The daily practice of affirmations, once an exercise I approached with half-hearted effort at best, became a powerful tool for maintaining my focus and drive.

But it wasn't just about mental and emotional growth. There was a practical necessity behind this shift. I realized that merely following the savings and investment plan I should have been on for the past 40 years wasn't going to be enough anymore. To achieve my financial goals in a shortened timeframe, I needed to significantly increase my income. I needed a strategy that would not only bolster my earnings but also create a sustainable income stream well into retirement.

I explored ways to enhance my income, looking into possibilities I had previously overlooked or deemed unfeasible. It was a period of exploration and experimentation, guided by the newfound wisdom from my self-help journey and a clearer, more focused mind.

The combination of improved health and the practical application of "wisdom of the ages" success principles created powerful momentum in my life. It was as if I was finally unlocking the full potential of all the knowledge I had accumulated over the years.

Discovering the Opportunity: Network Marketing

Let's talk about a turning point, a moment when things started looking up, not just for my health but for my wallet, too. As it turns out, while I was getting my act together, I stumbled across a business opportunity, something that wasn't just a quick buck, but a real chance at building a future and finding that missing comma.

It was a network marketing company.

Now, I know what you're thinking – those things are a dime a dozen, right? But this was different.

It offered something more than just selling products. This was a line of products that had made a huge impact on my mental wellness. They helped me change my life. Plus they were a first-mover in that category; a product category that is slated for huge growth over the next decade.

It was about building a team, creating a network of sales reps who were all in it together. Making an impact on the well-being of thousands of people.

This wasn't your run-of-the-mill gig; it was a chance at real income growth, while truly making a difference. And best of all, it was something I could keep doing well into my retirement years.

And let's be honest, when you're in your 60s, and you're looking down the road at retirement, the idea of unlimited earning potential is more than a little appealing. For me it was a lifeline. This was a chance to not only make ends meet but to build something lasting, something that could give me not just financial stability but freedom.

The beauty of it? It was all about leveraging a network, building a team. Every person I brought on board, every sale they made, it wasn't just good for them; it was good for me too. It was about creating a system where everyone's success fed into everyone else's. That's the kind of opportunity that doesn't just knock twice – it's the kind that kicks down the door.

But, like anything worth doing, it wasn't going to be easy. Building a network, training people, it takes work, dedication, and a bit of that old-school grit. But I was ready for it. After all, what's the point of gaining all this wisdom if you're not going to use it to try something bold?

So, I dove in headfirst.

And let me tell you, it's been a ride – ups and downs, successes and setbacks. But that's the nature of the beast, isn't it? You don't get something for nothing. But the potential? It's as real as it gets.

For any of you out there, looking at your own life, wondering if it's too late to make a change, to take a chance – let me be the one to tell you, it's never too late. Opportunities are out there, sometimes in the most unexpected places. You've just got to be brave enough to take them when they come. And believe me, when you do, it's worth every bit of the effort.

Wrapping it Up

It's been a heckuva ride so far. Getting my head out of a dark place it was for decades. Finding a means to fix my financial mistakes and find that missing comma. Getting myself on a path to a more fulfilling future.

Heady stuff.

If I could point you to a couple takeaways, it would be these:

Embracing Change and Personal Growth: The shift from a routine life to one of continuous self-improvement and learning is a crucial step. This transformation demonstrates that it's never too late to turn things around, regardless of age or past decisions. If I hadn't stumbled across the products that opened the doors to fixing my mind and working on myself, I shudder to think of where I'd be now.

Recognizing and Seizing Opportunities: The realization that simply following traditional savings and investment plans wasn't going to be enough to fix my situation led to the exploration of new income avenues. This in turn allowed me to see the potential in the product I had my hands on. Acres of Diamonds, indeed.

Leveraging Network Marketing: Discovering the potential in network marketing opened doors to not just an enhanced income but also a sustainable, long-term revenue stream that can extend well into retirement years. It isn't perfect, but it's the best thing I've ever seen.

If any of this resonates with you; if you're anywhere near where I was and want to change, maybe I can help.
