One of the cool things about operating a home business is that you can promote products that fire you up.

Whether you’re into golf, fishing, knitting, gardening or cliff diving you can find products that help people do those things better. And you get to spend your time learning about them, trying them out and promoting them.

Earning a living talking about and promoting the things you love is the best way to make money I know of.

And while promoting products is fantastic (I promote several myself), there are some strong arguments in favor of at least including some digital information products in your mix. Here are 4:

Faster Set-up Time

Most information products you’ll sell as an affiliate already have Landing Page templates, Funnels, Swipe Copy and all the things you need to get up and running. You just promote and earn.

As a product affiliate, you’ll need to get blog posts written and posted, do SEO and build your business more from scratch than you would with information products. Those things are good to do, and I encourage you to do them, but if your object is to start earning some income quickly, information products can have you up and running fast.

No Inventory

I know people whose home business is product based and they have a lot of money and space tied up in inventory. If you’re selling physical products as an affiliate, inventory won’t be an issue, but if you’re looking into garage sale flipping or developing your own line of products, there’s going to be a need for inventory and shipping and fulfillment.

Those are all things you avoid as an info product affiliate.

No Back Office Issues

I touched on this in the previous item, but products come with logistics. They need stored, packaged and shipped. Inventory needs managed. Cash flow management becomes more important because you have money tied up in inventory and you need to turn that product to keep your cash working.

You’ll have customer service issues and returns. Defective products to write off or negotiate credit from your supplier.

Lots and lots of things that aren’t related to generating sales.

When you’re a digital information affiliate, your focus is on marketing and sales. Period. Wearing fewer hats means you get better at a function more quickly, Mastering marketing and sales is what will drive your income and profits.

Higher Margins

Information products, especially digital information products carry higher margins. Much higher.

If you’re selling a product as an affilaite, you can be looking at 1% to 4% commissions. Even on a higher ticket item, that isn’t a lot. It takes a ton of sales to generate a significant income.

WIth digital products, once they’re created, the cost of producing another copy is almost zero. That means almost all of the sales price is gross profit, a large percentage of which can be paid to you as the affiliate.

For example, one offer I promote pays an 85% commission on a $105 sale. That’s $90 per sale. And those are on a monthly continuity (subscription). So for each customer, I earn $90 per month in recurring income. 45 customers generate $4000 in monthly income.

The physical products I promote, I promote through an MLM program because the profit per unit is much smaller. With an MLM you have the leverage of scale so that you are earning a small amount on a LOT of sales. But MLM teams take longer to build than it takes to find 20 or 40 or 100 customers.

So information products are a great way to get started and start earning job-dropping income quickly.

Start With Information Products

The best way to start your home business is selling information products as an affiliate.

You can get up and running quickly, avoid inventory and back office hassles and make a great margin on each sale.

If you want to genrate a full-time, job-dropping income quickly, it’s the best way to go.
